MISSION

To inspire economic development, encourage historic preservation, and collaborate with public and private organizations for the benefit of downtown and our entire community.

Using the Main Street 4 Point Approach we strive to:

  • Expand the capabilities of the Brookfield Downtown Main Street
  • Establish a flexible and dedicated funding source for Downtown revitalization activities
  • Develop public/private enhancement projects
  • Improve Downtown building conditions
  • Implement a business retention and expansion (BRE) program

PURPOSE – HISTORY

Main Street Brookfield is focused on strengthening downtown businesses, historic preservation, community education and promoting downtown through collaboration, communication and marketing. Using the four point Main Street approach we plan to provide one-on-one support to address the needs of small businesses, including educating property owners. Our Board of Directors, committees and volunteers are dedicated to making downtown Brookfield a vibrant business and activity center now, and for years to come.

Beginning as a volunteer group called ‘Friends of Downtown’ in 2006, Main Street Brookfield became a standing committee of the Brookfield Area Growth Partnership (BAGP) in 2010, when the BAGP saw the need to bring commerce and tourism back to the heart of the community. Main Street Brookfield is an arm of the Brookfield Area Growth Partnership.

Our offices are located at 207 North Main Street. This space facilitates collaboration with the community partners who share our building – the Brookfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership 365 Community Alliance and BHS Alumni Association. The two story building, which has now been restored by the Brookfield Area Growth Partnership, is part of the larger Bettelheim building, built in 1916. The upper floor contains a beautiful loft apartment and serves as a model for downtown development.

Main Street Brookfield was designated a Missouri DREAM community in 2009, in addition, was selected in the winter of 2020 to partner with the Missouri Main Street Connection through their Community Empowerment Program.
